iSports Media Challenge 2009 - We Came in FIRST!!!

Yes, Damai Secondary School's Sports Channel came in FIRST!!! We beat Crescent Girls School (Second) and Serangoon Secondary School (Third)!

Congraturations to our participating students:

Chan Ziqi, Kirk Chew, Zhou Xihao, Tan Sheng Hock & Chia Xuewei (Not in Photo)

We put in our best effort in building the website, preparing and uploading the contents with the hope to bring out Damai's sporting culture. We did not expect to win (the first). During the award ceremony on the 17th July 2009, we were all nervous when the organisers reveal the results for the secondary school category. When the names of the school for the fifth and fourth places were announced, we though there is some hope (At least, we are not at the last :P). As the names of the schools for third and second place were announced, we though there is no hope of winning. We never though of winning the first place. Little did we know that we really came in first! We were speechless! For a moment, we were stunned. After sometime, we recomposed ourselves to receive the trophy and prize.

We would like to thank the teachers of the Sports Group, all Damai Students for the support, expecially the Softball Boys, Rugby Boys and Canoeing Girls for their time and effort render in the video interviews. Special thanks also to Mr Victor Lam for the wonderful photographs.

We would not have done it without everyone's support and help!

iSports Media Challenge - Competition Ends

The 3 months long iSports Media Challenge has now come to an end. The Team would like to thank all CCA teachers and students for their support in contribution of contents and support of the channel. Without the support, the website would not be a success.

As we are competing against schools all over Singapore, winning would be a bonus. But we believe, it is the learning path that is important. With the exposure, the team members are now
  1. better in handling video equipment.
  2. experienced in photo & video editing.
  3. more comfortable in conducting interviews.
  4. exposed to time and project management.
  5. able to understand Team Work and Team Synergy.

With the exposure and experiences gained, Media Club Members are set to ride the wave for bigger challenges and improvements! Congratulations to the Team for the job well done! :)

Although the competition has ended, the website will still be open. Feel free to continue to send us your sports contents (Stories, Photos & Videos) to be included into the website and continue your support at the website!

Endnote: We would like to thank Mr Victor Lam for the professionally taken photos. We also would like to thank Lesze for helping out with the photo editing.

The qualities needed are virtue and steadfast in character. One must have the virtue of general moral excellence, right action and thinking & goodness or morality to be a good teammate. If he does not have this quality, he would be corrupted and not help out his team at all.He must also have steadfast in character as he must learn to cultivate good behavior with high moral value and be civil to be marked by benevolence and react to any situation at any time. The activity help build friendship and teamwork as we need to help each other to accomplish our work faster and easier and all things cannot be completed ourselves.I enjoyed helping to finish up thentire painting when my teammates are done for the day as I know that some of the parts of the painting is not painted yet. I hope to do another CIP in the future.

I am proud to announces that media cub have successfully competed the mural painting project. Despite missing the second sessions due to competitions, I pleased with the work my fellows peers had done. On our third, final day, is need to be done is the touching up. I suppose that our effort we put these three days paid off. Our mural looks as good as any work of a professional painter. Being a Sec Three, it is my final two years in Damai and I wanted to contribute as much as I can while I am still a Damaian. It an honour for me to lead my fellow club members for this project. I found myself becaming a better leader and a better team player. This project aims not only to promote our school to resident around the school, it promoted the idea of teamwork and hard work among us students, and of course, anyone can point out the success of the project.

With all the best wishes for Damai Secondary

today was the completion of the mural painting.it made us had a sense of achievement because we have do something important.i think that we need to be unified and work as a team to make a good painting.we also have to have great patience to do it we might mess it up.i think we did quite good for the painting but i think we can do better.im happy that the painting is finally done thanks to our hard work

Today was the dateline for finishing this project.I think we were lagging behind alot cause we needed to re-paint everything. We got to plan for an event in order to finish the job well and also finish it on time. The overall is not that bad in the sense that we tried our best to complete it well.

I saw unity amongst us and that was something that helped our project to progress faster. There were more sweats, more paint, more stains and definitely more effort put into it.I say it's a successful project that we did and our efforts are not wasted.

Mural Painting Reflection

The qualities that are necessary in order to do a good job are high expectation.

We need high expectations in order to be able to complete our job or homework in time.High expectations helped us to think far in our lives and make ourselves a better person.

The mural painting experience helped us to build friendship with one another because we have to interact with one another in order to asked the person what we should do next. This will help us to build friendship with one my CCA group members. Teamwork is important because we need one another to finish the mural on time. By dividing the role to each member, we could finish the painting in time.

I helped to paint the mural. Today was the last day for us, so I try to helped the others to paint. I painted majority part of the mural because we have to finish the mural by today. I am proud of what I have done. I think I have did a great job.

Mural Painting Reflection for Session 3 (27 May)- Nicholas 2e1

My Reflecton (27/05/09)

The qualities needed to do a good job in the painting are determination and full commitment to finish the job up and the patience do produce a neat and perfect work which will make everyone feel that we have done a great job and make our school proud. Teamwork is also needed in order to accomplish the task as without it, everyone will be helpless in what to do as teamwork is to help one another as two hands are better than one. These qualities can be applied to our daily lives and studies as in order to achieve great results and achievements, we must have the determination to do so and place all your commitment to do it if not do not bother doing it. Teamwork is important as it will bond you with many people, thus gaining friendship and the job can be done faster. It has build friendship in our CCA Group as we try to help one another as two hands are better than one and so that we can finish the job faster and with a good piece of work to show the public making our school proud too..We also communicate more often during this activity which shows that we hav somehow bonded with each other.. I enjoyed helping to cut the tape to cover the edges as this job was rather easy and I am glad to help my friend so that he will not have to cut and paste at the same time which is vcry troublesome. As the saying goes, helping others begets happiness.. Finally we finished the painting all thanks to everyone's hardwork..

20/5/09 [15 anniversary mural painting]

I think that we should need teamwork to done a good and accurate mural painting and if we does not have any teamwork we will not get an accurate and nice painting. It will be applied to my study and my life because we need teamwork to to a group work, if we does not have teamwork the work will become bad to worst.I enjoy the painting the mural because each and other have to help each and other to prevent the paint from droppind the floor and to prevent the paint from dripping the floor, the other group member have to hold the cover of the paint container to prevent the paint to dropping down to the floor

reflection

I am very happy that i have been given a chance to lead the mediav club members to do the painting. I think that in order to do a good job in the painting are teamwork and teameffort.

TEAMWORK, it can help you and your friends work together to finish your group work.

TEAMEFFORT, this can help get the painting done faster as if everyone can do their very part on the painting. The part which i enjoy most is to get to work with my friend and most of all the painting turns out nice and everyone gets to enjoy painting.

I supposed that most of the qualities required are team effort, perseverance and commitment.
Team effort is required as without it, team members will soon fall one by one due to the fact that the group lacks of cooperation or coordinated effort. Members might argue about the matters assigned to them and thus team will be broken apart. So I think team effort is mostly necessary for every team and groups.
Perseverance is the attitude maintained in spite of difficulties or steadfast and long continued obstacles. Every member must have this quality to never give up no matter what the hurdle is.If one throw in the towel, the whole team would go down as well.
And lastly is commitment where the person must promise to do whatever it takes to finish his assignment and be dormant while others are doing the work. As long as every one do their part, they can finish the work faster and easier.
This mural painting teaches me the meaning of friendship and teamwork with my teammates. It helps me to interact with my teammates during the entire activity. We would help each other if we are in need and assist each other to paint the wall like some will paint a section while other will paint another section.
I enjoyed helping to paint the wall though my friends were taking a break. I also enjoy touching up the place though our leader tell us to pack up as I feel that we can do a little more for a while.I hope to do another fun CIP in the future.

Mural painting reflection

I think the qualities necessary in order to do a good job in the painting is
TEAMWORK,RESPONSIBILITY and DETERMINATION.

Teamwork,I think that this is the most important quality as it will help us bond with our peers and other teamates. This will also help us gain friendship between each other,so that we can gian each others trust and the job can be done faster.

Responsibility,I think this is also necessary so that we can have our job done.As we need to be responsible for what we are doing both in life and studies.Responsibility is important as if we were told to do something we must be responsible and do it and not just give some lame reasons and not do it.

Determination,is also needed to finish the got as we need to be determine that we can finish a job on time and on tast. This quality also can help us both in life and studies.

The mural painting help the CCA group to build teamwork so we must work together in order to get the job done and we can bond together by doing so.

The part of the mural painting that I enjoyed the most is that I could work together with my peers, friends and CCAmates.

Xihao,2E5
I am delighted to be given the chance lead my fellow Media Club members for this mural painting project. As a Damaian, I am proud to have a chance to showcase our talent while learning in Damai. What we are lacking is unity. Regardless of anything, being united will allows us to maximise the effort we put in to produce good result. This painting project allows students to bond as one school. For example, we became less competitive among CCAs. Rather than competing who painted the best, we helped each other despite not knowing people from others CCA well.

I enjoyed the session very much. It almost like a once-in-a-lifetime chance. We don't get to draw on public wall usually. Despite the hard work, everyone was smiling. Although everyone is showing signs of fatigue, no one complained. Bonding between each CCAs and within CCAs defintely improved

With all my best wish for Damai Secondary

Edison, 3E1

Reflection

In order to do a good job in painting, we need to be patient, careful and have teamwork. The qualities as they are applied in life is when we have to be patient in facing challenges and we must not do things recklessly. In studies, teamwork is imporant to achieve good results and our friends can help and motivate us to do better. In CCA, the mural painting teaches us to cooperate with each other and strengthen the bonds that we have among our cca members. The part of the process that I enjoyed the most is helping the seniors paint the mural and it was a good experience for me.

Andi Johan 1E2
I think what the students need in them is unity amongst their peers. Without having unity,no matter how nice your painting is,it'll still be a one man job and not as a CCA,you present it. To that,we need to learn how to communicate well with our friends and whoever the people are.

No matter in school or at work in future,we need to know how to get along with the people we are working with.Despite their attitudes and how they have offended you,we got to learn to accept them.If we don't,we would be too distracted by them and lose focus on our goal and what we want to accomplish.

I did not bond with everyone.Only a few.I was still in my clique of friends as we were helping the teacher in school. So it was only a few of us.We knew each other quite well already and just talked I guess.

I helped the p.e teacher to pack up and I played some ball games with my friends. It was relaxing and enjoyable.Plus, thats a way how we bonded too.

Lesze(:
i think in order to complete the task, we need to have patience and teamwork.
teamwork so that we can be more efficient and complete the task quicker.we would also get along better and will not quarrel.
patience so that we will complete the task without any complains and so we will persevere and not give up on the task
the mural painting has made the people who joined it closer and know each other more
the part i enjoyed the most was the painting part.

The qualities that are necessary in order to do a good job are the qualities of being on the ball, teamwork and determination.

By being on the ball, we would be able to accomplish our job in time. It is also needed in our lives because when we are not being on the ball, we will lose track on time and we would not accomplish what we planned or achieved to do.

Teamwork. This is an important quality that we should or rather must have in order for us to build friendship with other people. In life, we cannot achieve everything on our own but we also need other people help. With other people help, we can complete our job in time and at the same time we can build friendship with other people.

With determination, we can achieve the things that we want to do. In studies, we need determination in order for us to get the marks that we planned to have. Determination help us to have confidence in ourselves and also help us to achieve our goals.

The mural painting experience helped us to build friendship with one another because we have to interact with one another in order to asked the person what we should do next. This will help us to build friendship with one my CCA group members. This experience also helped me to have the quality of teamwork. We need one another in order to finish up the painting on time and we cannot do anything all by ourselves.

Although I have did not help much in the mural painting, I did helped Mr Tan Heng Loon to rearrange the P.E store room in order for us to put the remaining paints inside it. I helped him a lot and I am glad that he is satisfied with our work although it is not what he expected to be.

Done by, Aiman Faiz b Abd Wahab, 2E1.

15-Anniversary-Mural-Painting

I believe that the qualities necessary in order for the accomplishment of the project is teamwork, responsibility, honesty and determination.

Teamwork is needed to accomplish tasks with the help of teamates as some things may not be completed alone and help is needed,`Two hands are better than one' - quoted from Nicholas.

Responsiblity is also needed in life as it is important to own up one's mistakes and not tell a lie or ignore it.We bonded together by helping each other with tasks given and we enjoyed ourselves as we felt that we had accomplished something which would not be done without the help of each other.

Determination is also needed as it drives us to our goal and successfully finish it.These qualities not only help us in our studies, but is also helpful in life.

Honesty is also needed as it is important to own up our mistakes and enable others to help us solve it.It is important to own up our mistakes to learn from it.

I enjoyed the part of the process where we had to paint the painting as it was quite difficult as the wall had an uneven surface and some bumps along it.We had to paste masking tape along the edges of some drawngs and carefully use the smaller brushes to paint the edges to avoid making any mistakes as we knew that it was no chance for any error. However we accidentally dripped some paint on another part of the painting. To err is human;to forgive, divine,we were forgiven on our mistake but we had to `touch up' the area.

Reflecton on mural painting Session 1-Nicholas 2e1

My Reflecton (20/05/09)

Signing off,
Nicholas Cheang You Zhi 2E1

I finally got some time to really blog about my feelings. Phew, don't blame me if i'm naggy (last time already). Anyway, thankyou secondary 3's leaders for putting in the effort in doing the video for the seniors. Farewell party too. Greatly appreciated. (:

Thanks for your days in cca, although the days are short as we just combined with each other during the start of the year. You guys are pretty noisy at times and we leaders have to keep scolding and scolding, however all those days were awesome. Please lower down your volume ok? Leaders will have difficulty trying to tell you guys something. Now all seniors step down already, sec 3 leaders are on your own already. You guys need to grow up already arh! Make your own decision at times. ( we leaders don't wish to hear complains hor! :D)

Anyway, please die die invite as back for anything big eg. camps. And I also want to come back for next year secondary 4's farewell party! :D HAHA, wanna take revenge mah. :x (just kidding).

Last but not least, mid year is just next week. Work hard for your midyear, hope you guys can score flying colours in your results! 3 cheers for mediaclub! :D

Withlove,
Peier
